Gigaclear: Eye on expansion

Gigaclear is a leading full- fibre broadband provider for rural communities, bringing ultrafast internet connections to over 300 rural locations and connecting over 100,000 homes and businesses across the UK.

Fleet Operations was tasked with supporting the Oxfordshire- based company’s UK-wide operations and driving its aspirational expansion objectives.

Gigaclear, which employs more than 500 staff, outsourced the management of its 140-strong fleet to Fleet Operations, who also spearheaded an end-to-end van project, converting a cash allowance van fleet into a bespoke, fully-kitted leased fleet.

The solution

The specialist team at Fleet Operations was initially tasked with executing the van fleet project. The team achieved this objective, successfully:

• Providing a fleet of 140 new customised, ‘fit for purpose’ vans.
• Overseeing van choice, livery, racking, manufacturer support, and pricing to fit Gigaclear’s requirements.

As well as creating a fleet policy for Gigaclear’s drivers, Fleet Operations also took over full day-to-day responsibility for the company’s fleet management, providing services such as purchasing, hire, PAYG maintenance, fuel management, risk management, reporting, systems support, and administration support.

Fleet Operations is also supporting Gigaclear’s commitment to a sustainable future by facilitating the installation of charge points at its head office premises, as well as assisting with the installation of telematics across its customised van fleet.
The telematics offering is bolstered by Fleet Operations’ bespoke risk management solution, Risk E360.

The result

With Fleet Operations’ support, Gigaclear was able to grow and enhance the professionalism of its business, providing its teams with the resource to continually drive up the quality of the network and deliver the seamless roll-out of ultrafast broadband connection to more rural communities.

Further to this, the Fleet Operations’ team is helping the company to futureproof its fleet, by driving efficiencies and managing road risk through the provision of technological solutions and supporting Gigaclear’s green goals by assisting with its electrification transition.
